I'm sure we all travel a lot, whether we're on a bus to town or on a train to a different city most of us can say we listen to music on the way. I have a playlist for these travelling times and have chosen my 5 favourites from it to share with you all.
Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams - Get Lucky
Get Lucky is the song I listen to when it's raining and I'm on the metro looking out over waterlogged fields and attempting to cheer myself up for when I arrive at my destination where I will most likely get soaked. It's groovy beats are uplifting and it's repetitive lyrics enjoyable.
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Everybody's On The Run
Everybody's On The Run seems to be made for those journeys where you know you're going to be late and have no control over it because the damn bus is stuck in traffic. The vocals from the choir and the strings give a feeling of tension to the song and yourself as you panic while checking the time on your phone.
Peace - Waste of Paint
This song was part of the soundtrack to my summer journeys to Sunderland, I listened to it every metro ride without fail. Looking out over the fields with the sun reflecting off the windows, being excited for my arrival in the seaside city with its tall old buildings and pretty parks; I felt Harrison Koisser's vocals gave that vibe.
Superfood - Superfood
With it's chilled grungey sound followed up with a heavier chorus; I loved slowly wandering around Newcastle to this song heading for RPM Records. It's a great song to walk in a busy city to, it takes you away from the rush, all the business people running from the train station and accidentally hitting you with their briefcases when doing so.
Thumpers - Unkinder (A Tougher Love)
Unkinder was played through my desperation to see Thumpers live - I was determined. Finally the day came when I'd travel to some little town outside Newcastle to see them play a small charity festival in the company of someone I'd met at my college's music tech taster fortnight. I spent the full bus journey listening to it, singing quietly along and since then its stuck, its been one for those long journeys to gigs, the ones where the excitement is getting too much and you want to cry but can't because there are people around.
Maybe next time you're going to be travelling you should check out this post as inspiration to a soundtrack to your future journeys and create a playlist? I'm sure you'd enjoy it!
