Life is too short to listen to bad music

There are several groups of people who rile me. One of the most irritating groups in the populous are those that often proclaim that "modern music is rubbish." Although, yes, the so-called 'music' that is blasted from every orifice in everyday life, whether that be chart radio shows, adverts or countless TV interviews is what I would call "utterly disgraceful dribble", there is no end to the wonderful music scenes that are evolving all over the country. Yes, chart music is mostly terrible, but if people only bothered to let their ears experience something other than the sugar-sweet, commercially viable and spoon-fed world that industry wise-cats provide to tween girls, the possibilities could be endless.

Bands have more platforms than ever to help get themselves noticed. This can only end in good results, as it allows people to find artists that they genuinely adore. This means following their every bad single, weird girlfriend and that scandal in their trail of rock and roll destruction. Why suffer the drivel you're faced with when you can hear lust, melancholy, ecstasy, greed, anger, oppression, freedom (and all the other important emotion stuff) IF YOU ONLY LOOKED A LITTLE HARDER?

Interestingly, it is beyond me as to why people are reluctant to try and experience different music. In my opinion, there is no greater pleasure than finding a new artist, going to a gig or finding someone who loves the same band as you; what can be wrong with that!?

Experiencing music 'fully' is a big part of the cycle; absent minded-ly hearing a song and not acting on what you've heard is just... stupid? Hearing the song, researching the artist, buying the single, buying the album, going to the gig, buying the t shirt and all the appropriate jazz of falling in love with a particular person is surely more rewarding (and fun) than hearing a piece of chart regurgitation and proclaiming in a blasé manner "Yeah I quite like that song," before moving on with your (most likely mundane) life. A good song should make you feel something inside that deep, dark soul of yours. It should make you say "bloody hell". It should make you want to get up and go crazy and say all the things you wished you had said that one time...

Summary: Life is too short to listen to bad music... Get out and experience all the semi quavers and A minor chords the worlds has to offer *shimmies off into sunset*
