Here are a few brilliant Christmas tracks to get you in the festive mood - albeit around three weeks too early.
Summer Camp - Christmas Wrapping
Covering The Waitresses, Summer Camp use swirling synths and beautiful vocal harmonies to create a unique cover in which their usual lo-fi, electro-pop fits with the song effortlessly.
Julian Casablancas - I Wish It Was Christmas Today
Opening with some classic sleigh bells you might be fooled into thinking this track will constitute your average Christmas song, however it soon launches into an upbeat drum beat, accompanied with grungy guitars and Julian Casablancas' vocals in a moment of utter brilliance. It's almost as though First Impressions Of Earth-era Strokes have been interlaced with church bells to create a genius Christmas concoction.
Crocodiles & Dum Dum Girls - Merry Christmas Please, Baby (Please Don't Die)
Jangly guitars and the catchiest of melodies makes this Christmas original one of my favourites. The contrast of the vampy guitars and sleigh bells once again triumphs to create something that will have you dancing around the fire/christmas tree/vat of mulled wine almost instantaneously.
The Maccabees - Walking In The Air
The Snowman is one of the most definitive Christmas films around; The Maccabees cover of 'Walking In The Air' is both beautiful and almost haunting in places.
Peace - All I Want For Christmas Is You / Creep
Recorded last Christmas for BBC Radio 6, peace perfectly intertwine Radiohead's 'Creep' with Mariah Carey's Christmas classic for the ultimate festive rock ballad. Peace have also released a cover of Wham's 'Last Christmas' recently - accompanied with a festive video - however this is sonically my favourite peace Christmas cover as it is both cleverly constructed and somewhat heart wrenching, yet still doused in festivity.
