Jagwar Ma

Jagwar Ma

The rumours of a hopeful Oasis reunion have been echoing everywhere for what seems like forever and if you are looking for some young Australians to blame for your disappointment, look no further. Noel Gallagher has recently blamed a certain bunch of lads for Oasis not getting back for a hopeful few gigs, as "we're too busy talking about fucking Temples and Jagwar Ma".

The physcdelic sounds echoing through Jagwar Ma's recent album 'Howlin’ has a haunting effect and will definitely leave you gagging for more.  The band's kooky appearance only mirrors their sound that is often compared to the extremely uplifting music coming from the current Birmingham music scene, including bands such as Peace and Swim Deep. The three young men from Sydney very much remind me of the ‘Madchester’ scene from the late 1980s and early 90s which included many infamous bands such as The Stone Roses and Oasis, all of whom were the voice of a generation filled with heavy guitar riffs and iconic lyrics.  They have the same feel good vibe mixed in with some heavy guitar and dance music to make their sound that little bit different to their comparisons.

Their single ‘The Throw’ that was released in early 2013 really has an almost Stone Roses feel running through it but with a very weird twist. I can almost imagine none other than Ian Brown dancing around on stage to the prominent words and heavy beats.

Jagwars Ma's debut album ‘Howlin’ has been released on Marathon Artists and is on sale now. Tickets to see Jagwar Ma on their May 2014 tour are on sale currently:
